A Brief History

The history of Hampshire Junior Chess Association will appear here in due course.

We believe that :

In 1975 HJCA was founded by Terry Hollington, Secretary (Southampton)

Ian Stenhouse (Southampton) organised the Southampton Congress.

Liz Haig and her husband did catering.

Marion and Alan Lusher (Fareham) organised congresses.

Jill Holland (mother of Emilia and Eddy Holland) was Publicity Officer.

Joe French hosted HJCA meetings at his house, 31 Brocas Drive, South View, Basingstoke, Hampshire.

We can state that HJCA was resurrected from dormancy in 2017 as a tribute to Joe French.
